Breen's rapid is arguably the best natural whitewater feature in Iowa. It is formed by bedrock sloping into the river from the river left/east shore.
The optimum river level is 2500 - 4500 cfs using the USGS gauge

The feature offers great surfing, spins and in specific spots cartwheels. Overall the feature is shallow so paddlers are warned to tuck quickly to avoid hitting the shallow rock slab. Eddy access is good from river left and river center.
Put In: 42.5545, -94.2090, East side of river at the end of 160th Street. Note: the put in is land owned by the City of Fort Dodge. Be respectful of the area, parked with courtesy and do not litter
