Each feature is followed by large eddies on both sides for easy reentry and safe exit. It is open year round and is free to use. The Whitewater park is currently home to the Iowa Games Slalom Event and the Charles City Challenge Event. The river features are usable from 500 cfs to 8000 cfs with a primer river level range of 2000 – 4000 cfs for all three features. Above 8000 cfs there is minimal eddy access and three features become random whitewater waves/holes requiring solid whitewater skills.

Note – there is a large dam upstream of the Whitewater Park that is dangerous for paddlers and should be avoided.
